THE JEWISH EAST END: There have been Jews in England for over nine hundred years, since the first arrived with William the Conqueror in 1066.
This tour traces Anglo-Jewish history from the Conquest until the present day and visiting a neighbourhood, which, before the Second World War, was virtually a Jewish ghetto, the language on the streets being Yiddish.
Circumstances permitting, a visit will be made to Britain's oldest synagogue in Bevis Marks, consecrated over 300 years ago in 1701.
THE EAST END TOUR: Because of its position downwind to the east of the medieval City of London, the East End developed as an industrial area. The London Docks were built alongside the river. Besides raw materials for the industry, refugees streamed off the ships fleeing persecution and hunger elsewhere.
This tour recalls those immigrants as they settled here. Also included are events and characters of the area from the Kray Twins and the Elephant Man to the Siege of Sidney Street and the Battle of Cable Street.

IN 2012 THE OLYMPIC GAMES are returning to London for the THIRD time. This tour will approach the site via one of the “Gateway” routes passing through an area which is experiencing the most dramatic changes since the Second World War. We will end near the almost completed Olympic Stadium.
JACK THE RIPPER: During the Autumn of 1888, in London's East End, five women died at the hands of the world's most notorious serial killer. No one was ever brought to justice for those killings. One theory is there was an official cover-up at the time. They say if the truth were known then, the implications would have been wider reaching than even those of Watergate in the USA.
You will be taken through the story visiting many of the sites that still exist.
